Sunrise takes out top honours

A $100 million dollar residential development nestled five kilometres south of Agnes Waters has been awarded top honours in environmentally sustainable development in Australia.

Sunrise at 1770 has taken out the coveted Environmental Excellence category at the 2008 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) National Awards for Excellence gala dinner in Melbourne.

The Awards bring together the best in urban development from around Australia, addressing issues such as quality design, use of infrastructure, land revitalization, community consultation, sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental management and affordability.

Announced last Thursday night, the national recognition surrounding Sunrise at 1770's award win has firmed it as a world-class development.

The community features a nursery, two clubs, eight beach barbecue pavillions, three swimming pools, four tennis courts, basketball and beach volleyball court, kids playground, surf lookout tower at Springs Beach and an environmentally friendly car wash using recyclable water. Managers of Sunrise at 1770, Greg and Michelle Millar said staff and owners were overwhelmed by the news of the award win.
